Olivet offers opportunities for growth and fellowship to a variety of ages. Contact our church office for more specifics, or check our calendar below for dates and times.
Volunteers comprise Olivet’s brass and woodwind band. The band plays prior to most Sunday services and for other Services such as funerals and the Easter Sunrise Service. Our band is directed by Robert Conrad.
The Chancel Choir assists in Sunday morning worship by leading our congregation in song and liturgy. Choir members may join as early as the 8th grade. The choir is co-directed by Rachel Desmarais and Nancy Whicker. Rehearsals take place most Wednesday evenings in the Sanctuary from 7:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.
Our Cherub Choir is for boys and girls ages 2 - 6 years old. They practice on Sunday mornings at the beginning of Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. in the preschool room. The Cherubs sing 2 - 3 times a year for our Sunday morning service. This choir is led by John Golden and Karen Gordon.
Currently, Olivet has three handbell groups for children and youth. The Beginning Ringers group is for children who are new to handbells. The Moravian Star Ringers group is for more advanced-ringing children and new youth ringers. The Morning Star Ringers are an advanced youth bell group. All three groups are led by Pastor Doug Rights and practice on Wednesday evenings.
Realizing that families often need a listening ear and the physical presence of a caring person, Pastoral Assistant Bill Campbell has trained several folk to lend aid and comfort. Some are present at the time of funerals, weddings and other events as requested.
The Men of the church meet for a breakfast once a month. There they plan for ministry and fellowship opportunities. They have enjoyed holding fish fries and BBQ Dinners, cooking hams at Thanksgiving time, two golf tournaments each year, cleaning the right – of – way of the Olivet Church Road, which passes by the church. Also cutting wood at the Laurel Ridge Moravian Camp gives the men plenty of exercise. Their enthusiasm is unsurpassed and they mean a great deal to each other and to the life and ministry of the church.
The Olivet Ringers is our adult handbell group. These ringers practice on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. until 7:15 p.m. This group plays frequently for Sunday services and is led by our Director of Music, Nancy Whicker.
The Senior Friends meet monthly, either at the church facility, or to take a trip. They enjoy shopping sprees and trips to get apples and enjoy the mountain scenery in the fall. Community Day is also a big event, when many from neighboring churches join for a well – planned program of music and worship.
Olivet has several Women’s Fellowship Groups. The Sarah Beroth Circle meets once a month during the day, typically the first Tuesday of each month. The Women’s Service Group and Friends’ Fellowship groups typically meet during the evenings.
The Junior Youth Fellowship is for children in the 3rd through 5th grades. The Junior High Fellowship is for teenagers in the 6th through 8th grades. The Senior High Fellowship is for older youth in the 9th through 12th grades. These groups meet several times a month, participate in growth, mission, service, and fellowship activities.

Olivet offers a traditional Moravian style service on Sunday Morning at 11:00 AM. Using hymns and liturgies from the Moravian Book of Worship the worshiper is led to a point when the children have a special time with the pastor and then a Gospel Sermon is preached by the Pastor or the Pastoral Assistant.
Communion is offered some eight times during the year, and all professing Christians are welcome to participate.
